The controversial photo of the Gran Vía by Ignacio Pereira will be a pioneer when it is auctioned in NFT format

We talked to you about it a year ago when the manipulation that the political formation VOX made of the photo taken by Ignacio Pereira raised controversy; now, the image returns to the present day because its author has decided auction your work in the new digital NFT format (Non-Fungible Tokens).

As Xataka colleagues told us, NFTs are digital assets, therefore, Intangible goods. Contrary to what happens with cryptocurrencies, NFTs cannot be exchanged with each other, since No two are the same: “your letter from a crypto kitty is unique, as is that digital artwork or any other intangible asset that falls within this definition“.

Tweet Vox Madrid

The tweet posted by VOX with an obvious manipulation of the original photo.

Therefore, it is a fairly new concept that Ignacio has applied to “the photograph of discord” that snapshot of the Gran Vía with a single raider, which was an icon of the pandemic in Spain. This image will become the first photograph sold in Spain using this new format.

Its author tells us that “Thanks to the ‘No Fungible Token’ the photographs incorporate metadata that make them unique and position the artists at the forefront of the cryptocurrency market. We have the ability to generate custom currency. The traditional market will have to live with these new forms of exchange“.

The idea arises because “many artists are having difficulty exhibiting physically and this new market opens the possibility of continuing with our work“. For this reason, the author resorts to this format on which he thinks that”the advent of NFT technology turns the art world upside down. Digital disciplines align with conventional art by adding the fundamental ingredient: exclusivity“.
