Hereof, Should black and white photos be glossy or matte? Aside from the matte vs glossy photos advice already provided, it’s best to choose matte as the printing process for black and white photos. What is the difference between glossy and Lustre photo finish?

Glossy paper gives a shiny paper finish whereas lustre paper gives a soft, sheen finish. When comparing the quality, glossy paper gives a better quality than the lustre paper. The prints on lustre print are good if the picture has to be framed and out behind glass.

Is there black photo paper? A number of photo inkjet printers use two different primary black inks – Photo Black or Matte Black. Each is optimized for a certain type of inkjet media. Use Photo Black for glossy photo paper and satin / luster photo papers.

Do I want glossy or Lustre? Deciding whether to use a glossy or lustre finish often depends on personal preference. If you are going to frame a photo, lustre is often preferred. Glossy photos can stick to the glass, so if you are going to frame a glossy image, it is best to leave space between the photo and glass.

What finish is best for photos? If you are planning on displaying your photo prints behind glass, a matte finish is definitely the best choice. Not only will matte photos not stick to the glass of photo frame, but they will also reflect less light, making them much more enjoyable to look at.

Should wedding photos be glossy or matte?

I recommend using matte paper if you’re planning on framing (to cut down on reflections), or if your images don’t include much intense color. Glossy paper, on the other hand, is highly reflective and prone to fingerprints, but it’s also very vibrant. So glossy paper is ideal if you want to enhance colors.

What is the difference between matte black and photo black? Standard black, usually referred to as photo black, for glossy, semigloss, satin, semimatte, and luster papers, and matte black, which prints darker on the uncoated fine art papers but doesn’t dry on the coated papers.

What is PGBK vs BK?

What’s the difference between PGBK and BK? PGBK ink is intended for uses like text, it’s smudge resistant and good for fine lines. BK ink is intended for photographs, it’s richer. The printer defaults to PGBK for text, lines etc – unless it thinks they are part of a photo.

Can you use black ink instead of black ink? You can, but I don’t recommend it. The physical size of the photo black cartridge will result in movement of the ink cartridge during printing. The end result will be a messy print, waste of ink, and the use of more paper. I would use the ink cartridge that is designed for the printer.
