Today I present you another RAW development software: RawTherapee. Follow the guide!
But didn’t you say we should use UFRaw in combination with Gimp?
Yes, and I maintain, it’s a good combination. That said, UFRaw is basicand does not have some useful features such as good noise management or direct access to the file library. But don’t worry: everything you’ve learned with UFRaw is still valid.and you’ll be able to reuse this knowledge as is in this new software.
Moreover, it looks a bit like Adobe Lightroom or others like Darktable or Bibble. What I’ll show you with this software can be used in others, you’ll just have to find the equivalent function (which most of the time has the same name :D). And it is obviously free of chargeI give you the info to download it right after the video ๐.
So here is the RawTherapee presentation:
(If you see badly, remember to put the video in full screen and click on “HD”)
(In the video I’m talking about three tutorials that you may have missed: the one on curves, the one on black and white, and finally the one on white balance).
This software is compatible with Windows and Linux, but unfortunately not Mac. That said, as I have said over and over again, the principles will apply to what you could use on a Mac ๐
And the links you are all waiting for: installation of Raw Therapee (you have to choose your operating system from the list), and the French manual (pdf, 1 Mo), which is very well done! (for the moment available only for version 2.4, but it’s very useful anyway: I encourage you to start reading it) Here are also the boxes compatible with RawTherapee 2.4.1.
EDIT I’ve been asked several times about thefile opening with RawTherapee, so I’m answering it in a very short video:
