We thought the Nikon Z6 and Z7 were compact, but the Z50 is positively dinky, particularly with the new ‘pancake’ Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR kit lens attached. There’s also a new Nikkor Z DX 50-250mm f/4.5-6.3 VR telephoto zoom.

What lens mount is the Nikon Z50?

What a bright idea. The Z 50 is designed around Nikon’s revolutionary Z mount, the widest lens mount of any comparable camera system. A wider mount means more light, and more light means more of everything good—sharpness, contrast, focusing speed, low light performance and image quality.

Can I use my old Nikon lenses on a Nikon mirrorless camera? Even if you switch from a Nikon DSLR to a Nikon mirrorless camera, and use a Nikon lens adapter, there are some compatibility issues. Most newer lenses should be fine, as they have built-in autofocus motors. However, because the adapter doesn’t have one, Nikon’s AF and AF-D lenses are manual focus only.

No, Nikon Z50 doesn’t have Image Stabilization!

Does Nikon Z50 have built in flash?

Are mirrorless cameras better than Dslrs? The DSLR offers a wider selection of interchangeable lenses, longer battery life, and better low-light shooting thanks to the optical viewfinder. On the other hand, mirrorless cameras are lighter, more portable, offer better video quality even in lower-end models, and can shoot more images at faster shutter speeds.

Nikon Z50: Build and handling

Aside from the standard buttons such as Playback, Trash and Menu, the Nikon Z50 has a couple of extra buttons on the back of the camera, as well as on the LCD that are worth going over. Let’s first go over the LCD buttons, which can only be activated when the camera is on.

Can I use DX lens on Nikon Z50?

The Z50 works with all Nikon Z-Mount Lenses, both full-frame and DX. It uses the same oversized mount as Nikon’s full-frame cameras, and thus looks foolishly large around an APS-C sensor. This also means the back ends of all DX Z lenses are larger in diameter than they really have to be.

What is the shutter life of Nikon Z50? As I’ve said – the official rating of shutter actuations for Z50 is 150K.
