The Sony a6000 uses standard E-mount lenses (as opposed to full-frame FE lenses), originally designed for the Sony NEX (‘New E-mount eXperience’) series of mirrorless cameras.

How old is Sony A6000? The A6000 launched in April 2014 in both a kit configuration with the Sony 16-50mm Power Zoom lens for around US$800, and as a body-only option for around US$650, in both an all-black color and a silver version (with corresponding silver 16-50 kit lens).

If your older crop sensor model is limiting your results in low light, and you are constantly frustrated by high levels of noise, you might benefit from an upgrade to full frame. Can I use a full-frame lens with an APS-C sensor? Can full frame lenses be used on APS-C sensors? Generally speaking, yes- insofar as the mount is compatible. That said, it’s not a complicated camera – so perfect for beginners. It’s small, mirrorless – making it very light – and incredibly quick (Sony claims it focuses faster than a DSLR, and we tend to agree). It does have a crop sensor so if you want big, expansive photos to print, this may not be the best option.

Does Sony a6000 have a flash? The Sony A6000 takes decent photos in low light as it has a built-in flash. However, it’s small and can’t project enough light on an object when you’re shooting in the dark.
