Overall, I’d have to say the GX80 is probably Panasonic’s best-judged compact system camera for quite some time. The combination of small body, highly effective in-body image stabilization, and 4K video recording is unique. For photographers who are also interested in shooting video it’s a very compelling option.

Then, Is the GX85 a good camera? GX85 Summary

What is mirrorless DSLR?

A mirrorless camera is a type of camera that works without a reflex mirror. Light passes through the lens directly to the digital sensor, which then displays your image on the camera’s LCD screen, allowing you to adjust settings and preview your image before its shot.

Does GX85 have image stabilization? Like the GX8, the GX85 offers Dual I.S., combining sensor-based image stabilization with lens-based IS. But unlike the GX8, which has 4-axis sensor IS, the GX85 offers 5-axis sensor IS with rotation correction.

Which is better mirrorless or DSLR? The DSLR offers a wider selection of interchangeable lenses, longer battery life, and better low-light shooting thanks to the optical viewfinder. On the other hand, mirrorless cameras are lighter, more portable, offer better video quality even in lower-end models, and can shoot more images at faster shutter speeds.

Do professional photographers use mirrorless cameras? Do professionals use mirrorless cameras? Yes, but they also use DSLRs, too, depending on the genre of photography. In fact, many people switch between DLSR vs mirrorless cameras. Some are advocates that mirrorless lenses and autofocus are still not there yet, and prefer to use DSLRs.

How long do mirrorless cameras last?

Given the build quality of mirrorless cameras, they can last 10+ years if properly maintained and only naturally fail you when critical components like the sensor or image processor break.

What are the disadvantages of a mirrorless camera? Cons of Mirrorless

  • Battery life (though getting better! See more on this below)

Many professional photographers use high-end Canon or Nikon DSLRs, such as a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR camera or a Nikon D850 DSLR camera. Are mirrorless cameras faster?

Potentially Very Fast FPS Speed: having no mirror means that the capture rate (FPS) does not have to be limited by the mirror speed. This means that mirrorless cameras could potentially capture images at much faster frame rates than 10-12 FPS we see today, with much less noise and viewfinder blackout.

How do I know if my lens needs calibration? If focusing is accurate, the ‘0’ on the lens calibration chart should be the sharpest point on the image. The other numbers should get blurrier as you move away from the ‘0’. If any number above the 0 is sharper, then your lens is doing something called back focus.
