Is Kodak still a company?

Similarly, Is film making a comeback? Film photography has been making a steady, slightly unexpected comeback for the past few years. In this article, I break down some of the reasons why that is happening, as well as say why it may be slightly dangerous for creatives. Film photography is the classic way of creating images.

What killed Kodak? Why did Kodak fail and what can you learn from its demise? Kodak failed to understand that its strategy of banking on traditional film cameras (which was effective at one point) was now depriving the company of success. Rapidly changing technology and evolving market needs made the strategy obsolete.

Today, nearly all the big box stores send the film to third-party labs, with turnaround time ranging from three to five days at Walgreens and two to three weeks at CVS.

Is film sharper than digital? Film captures photos at higher resolution than most digital cameras. Analog film can be pushed or pulled multiple stops when needed, but the amount of contrast within the image is affected.

Is expired film still good?

Over time the chemicals on the film lose their potency and start to deteriorate. The silver halides in the films’ emulsion degrade and lose their sensitivity. As a result, colours will lose their vibrancy, and contrasts will fade and grain increases. Eventually, expired film becomes foggy and unusable.

Where can I develop old film? Walmart, Walgreens, and CVS all provide film development services. Walmart has the cheapest options but longest turnaround time and limited options, Walgreens can have the fastest turnaround time but is more expensive, and CVS delivers the best quality with a short turnaround time.
