Does the Canon R6 have an EF mount?

Thankfully, the answer is YES! You can use EF lenses on the R5 and R6, although you will need to buy one of Canon’s EF-RF mount adapters to do so.

What is the difference between RF and EF lenses?

RF mount is the new mount from Canon that is used on their lineup of full frame mirrorless cameras. EF mount is the older mount used by Canon in their Film SLR and Digital DSLR cameras (cameras with mirrors in them).

What mount does Canon R6 have? The Canon EOS R6 (Amazon, B&H) has a new lens mount, the RF-mount, and this means new native lenses.

Is the Canon R6 good for macro photography?

Is Sigma making RF lenses? Sigma will eventually address the RF mount.

In June 2021, Mr. Kazuto Yamaki (Sigma CEO) said that the RF mount is internally discussed and researched. To most of us this sounded like “we are getting into it”. So it doesn’t wonder that much that now Sigma is rumored to release RF mount lenses soon.

1 — They are new and therefore in short supply. 2 — there are a lot of r&d costs which have to be recouped and the market for RF lenses is currently smaller than the market for EF lenses. This means each lens sold has to pay back a larger share of the r&d costs.

What does EOS mean Canon? EOS stands fo Electro-Optical System. But like the other “names” is just a brand name by Canon. Powershot means nothing in itself but generally it is Canon’s line of P&S cameras. Numbers in the name just signify a difference in features and newer models.
