Do you need lens hood for 70 200?

The hood on the 70-200/4 is the size it needs to be. The hood will offer protection to the front element and help to eliminate flare which can kill contrast. I recommend you skip the UV filter and keep the hood attached at all times.

Do lens hoods fit all lenses? They can be used with any lens that has a matching thread size (e.g. 52mm) with internal focus. Hoods that are crafted for specific lenses have the advantage of being tailored to perfectly match the exact focal length of the lens for which they were designed.
